Rachel 
Hiu Yin IP

Rachel Hiu-Yin Ip (葉曉燕)  is a visual artist, independent curator, and art educator. She holds a BA in Fine Art, majoring in Photography, and a Master of Fine Art from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), as well as a Master of Cultural Studies from Lingnan University.

Her photographic works have been exhibited internationally in Hong Kong, the UK, and China, including at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, Videotage, Oil, ACO, Lumenvisum, Iklectik, the 11th Pingyao International Photography Festival, and Fine Art Asia, as well as in various galleries and art spaces, and are held in private collections.Ip is a founding member of The Upper Station Photo Gallery, a Hong Kong–based gallery dedicated to contemporary photography. Her curatorial practice spans numerous exhibitions, with selected projects including Rare Encounters: Nancy Sheung’s Portraits of Hong Kong Women in the 1960s, About Us, About Life & About the City, 100 Self-portraits of Hongkongese, I Will Not Make Any Boring Photograph, and, more recently, Women Artists in the UK.

Alongside her curatorial work, Ip is actively engaged in art education and writing. She is the founder of Women Art Creative and established RAC, a one-man art school, in 2012. She has taught at the Hong Kong Art School and the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong, and was a lecturer at Hong Kong Metropolitan University from 2015 to 2022.

She has been a columnist for Milk since 2015 and Res()nate magazine since 2020, and currently contributes to Ming Pao and Milkulture. She also works in art press and continues to promote the arts through her writing, podcast, and teaching.
